A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to shoot another man in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 8:10 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Lawrence Avenue.

The 29-year-old suspect allegedly began knocking on the victim’s door with a brick, causing damage, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

“The victim answered the door and told him to leave,” Nicodemus said.

The suspect allegedly threatened the 33-year-old victim.

When police officers arrived, the suspect was attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle. He was taken into custody.

As the suspect was searched, police reportedly found what they believe may be methamphetamine. No gun was found on the suspect, Nicodemus said.

The suspect was arrested for allegations of aggravated assault, making a criminal threat, possession of methamphetamine and criminal damage to property.

Nicodemus said it is believed the suspect was angry about an ex-partner who is now with the victim.
