Another hearing has been set for a former physician assistant who is accused of sexually abusing patients at the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Leavenworth.

Mark E. Wisner appeared Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court.

Wisner is charged with one felony count of aggravated sexual battery, one felony count of aggravated criminal sodomy and three misdemeanor charges of sexual battery.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred between 2012 and 2014 while Wisner was working at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center.

The case is scheduled to go to trial Aug. 28. Wednesday’s court appearance was considered a status hearing.

During Wednesday’s status hearing, District Judge Gunnar Sundby scheduled another hearing for Aug. 16. He said this will allow the parties to address issues that may exist ahead of the trial.

“We’re scheduled for a very lengthy trial,” Sundby said.
