A Beatles tribute band will perform Saturday night in downtown Leavenworth.

AbbeyRoad will play a wide range of hit songs from the iconic British band at Leavenworth Main Street’s free summer concert series.

The concert will be held from 7-10 p.m. at Haymarket Square, Cherokee and Seventh streets.

AbbeyRoad was founded in 1996 as a tribute band to the Beatles. They perform popular hit songs by the famous Fab Four from 1962 through 1970. The band plays at many festivals, parties and celebrations in the Kansas City, Missouri, area.

“They are a lot of fun,” said Wendy Scheidt, executive director of Leavenworth Main Street.

The seven-member band consists of Chris Boyd (lead guitar, vocals), Alex Kunellis (lead vocals), Rick Haynes (rhythm guitar, vocals), Dave Patmore (percussion, vocals), Tim Godfrey (keyboard), Chris Symmonds (drums) and Mike Sullivan (bass, vocals).

This will be a return visit to Leavenworth for the band. AbbeyRoad played at the summer concert series several years ago.

“We try to bring in a variety of bands,” Scheidt said. “They were popular a couple years ago and we decided to bring them back.”

TenPenny Restaurant and Bar is the featured food vendor for the event.

Beverages will also be available for purchase. No coolers are allowed at the venue during the concert.

Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
