Firefighters are still investigating a house fire that was reported over the weekend in Leavenworth, a Fire Department official said.

The fire was reported at 11:25 p.m. Saturday at 1529 10th Ave. The fire started in a bedroom of the residence.

“The firefighters quickly extinguished it,” said Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department.

The fire resulted in an estimated loss of $10,000.

DeMaranville said a woman had been staying in the house but she left the scene before firefighters arrived.

DeMaranville said he has spoken to the woman, but firefighters have not yet obtained a formal statement from her.
