A counterfeit $20 bill turned up at a Leavenworth business, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 10:28 p.m. Thursday at Ross’s 20th Street Bar & Grill, 202 N. 20th St.

An employee determined the bill was counterfeit after checking it with a special pen, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

He said the case will be turned over to the U.S. Secret Service, which investigates counterfeit currency.
