The maximum security unit at the Lansing Correctional Facility was on lockdown Friday following a fight between inmates, according to a prison spokesman.

The incident was reported at 12:04 p.m. in the maximum security dining room at the prison. Prison spokesman Brett Peterson described the incident as an altercation between two offender groups.

Prison staff immediately responded to quell the altercation.

Peterson said no injuries were reported among staff members or inmates. The incident remains under investigation.

He said the prison’s central, or maximum security, unit will remain on lockdown for an undetermined amount of time as a precaution.
