The crash was reported at 1:50 p.m. on Tonganoxie Drive south of Eisenhower Road.

A 62-year-old Leavenworth woman was driving south in a 2015 Buick Encore. The sport utility vehicle went off the east side of the road, striking a rock retaining wall. The vehicle then went airborne. When it landed, it crashed through a barbwire fence, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

The driver was transported to Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth.
