With rain in the forecast for the rest of the work week, there is a chance for some flooding in the area, according to the National Weather Service.

“The potential is there,” said Chuck Magaha, director of Leavenworth County Emergency Management. “We’ll be monitoring it closely.”

Magaha said the area needs rain. He said there was a high fire danger in the county earlier in the week because of wind and dry conditions.

According to information provided by the National Weather Service, rainfall over the next several days could result in “localized flash flooding as well as flooding along area rivers, creeks, and streams.”
