The Leavenworth Public Library will close for regular business a little early this Friday. But it will re-open a few hours later for a special fundraiser.

The Library After Hours event will feature a performance by Tom's Town, a five-piece jazz ensemble.

Library Director Matt Nojonen said the group will perform what he called speakeasy jazz from the period of political boss Tom Pendergast's reign in Kansas City, Missouri.

"It should be a lot of fun," Nojonen said.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per person or $35 for two. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The event is for people who are 21 and older.

Nojonen said free beer and wine will be served along with snacks.

He said money raised during the event will support library programs for adults.

The Leavenworth Public Library hosted a similar fundraiser in June.

The library will close for regular business at 4 p.m. Friday.
