Leavenworth firefighters are investigating a blaze that was reported early Tuesday morning at a vacant house.

The fire was reported at 5:15 a.m. at 709 Oak St.

Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department, said smoke and fire could be seen coming from the first floor of the west side of the house when firefighters arrived on scene.

Firefighters initially battled the blaze from outside of the structure. They eventually made their way into the house to look for extensions of the fire and put out any “hot spots,” DeMaranville said.

The Leavenworth Fire Department requested assistance from the Fort Leavenworth Fire Department during the fire.

No injuries were reported.

DeMaranville said the house appeared to be vacant. The home had no electric or gas service.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
