A storm that moved through the area Saturday produced a lot of rain but did not do much damage, the Leavenworth County Emergency Management director said.

“It was basically just a very heavy rain event with lots of thunder and lightning,” Chuck Magaha said.

Magaha said as much as 3.25 inches of rain fell in one location of the county.

“We had some street flooding going on, but nothing major,” he said.

Stranger Creek, which is prone to flooding in Leavenworth County, did not reach its flood stage following the heavy rain. Magaha said this is because rainfall was not as heavy upstream in Atchison County.
