County officials are accepting resumes from people interested in filling a vacancy on the Leavenworth County Planning Commission.

Applicants must be from the County Commission’s 2nd District. The 2nd District includes Lansing, a southern section of the city of Leavenworth and portions of the Delaware Township.

The Planning Commission considers various planning and zoning matters for the county government and makes recommendations to the County Commission. The Planning Commission typically meets once a month.

Planning and Zoning Director Jeff Joseph said the Planning Commission is made up of nine members, but the body currently is short one member. Each of the County Commission’s three districts typically is represented on the Planning Commission by three members.

People wanting to apply for the vacant position should send resumes and letters of interest to the Leavenworth County Clerk’s Office, 300 Walnut St. The deadline for submitting resumes is Nov. 22.

Joseph said the Leavenworth County Commission will select someone to serve on the Planning Commission.
