Local residents will have plenty of Christmas-themed activities to choose from this weekend.
A number of events are planned for Saturday in the downtown area including the city of Leavenworth’s annual Breakfast with Santa event.
The event will take place from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St., according to the city of Leavenworth website.
Advance tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for children. Ticket prices at the door will be $7 for adults and $6 for children.

Also at the Riverfront Community Center, St. Paul Lutheran Church and School will be sponsoring an annual German Christmas Market.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Community Center.
Various musical and dance acts will perform throughout the event, according to a Facebook page for the event.

Across the street from the Riverfront Community Center, the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum will be hosting the 13th annual Small Mall.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the museum, which is located at 320 S. Esplanade St.
The event is designed to help children between the ages 3 and 13 shop for gifts for family and friends in a secure environment, according to a website for the Leavenworth Historical Museum Association.

The Grinder’s High Noon Rudolph’s Red-Nose Run also will take place Saturday. The event will benefit a Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department scholarship fund.
Registration and check-in will take place form 10-11:30 a.m. at Grinder’s High Noon, 206 Choctaw St.
The race will begin at noon. The event will include a five-kilometer run and a 7.2-mile run, according to a flyer for the event.
The early registration deadline has expired. But people can register late through Friday at the Riverfront Community Center at a cost of $40.
People also can register the morning of the race at a cost of $45.

The Cody Choraliers Barbershop Chorus will present its Holiday Harmony 2017 dinner and show at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Center, 109 Delaware St., according to the organization’s website.
Tickets are $20 for adults or $10 for children 12-under.

The University of Saint Mary theater program will present “A Christmas Carol” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Xavier Theatre on the university’s campus, 4100 S. Fourth St.

The Leavenworth County Running Club will be hosting an annual ugly sweater five-kilometer run and walk at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lansing Elementary School, 450 W. Mary St.
Participants are asked to bring a $5 donation or canned goods. Donations will be given to the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Program in Lansing, according to a Facebook page for the event.
The Richard Allen Cultural Center and Museum will host its annual Christmas Tea event from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Riverfront Community Center, according to the museum’s website.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
The Fort Leavenworth Spouses’ Club will host a Holiday Bazaar fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the USD 207 annex, which is the former MacArthur Elementary School on Biddle Boulevard on Fort Leavenworth.
Tickets are $5. VIP tickets are $8. VIP tickets allow attendees to begin shopping at 9 a.m. Breakfast snacks are included, according to a website for the Fort Leavenworth Spouses’ Club.

The Basehor Historical Museum Society will have an open house and neighboring VFW Post 11499 will host a holiday market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, according to a Facebook post for the events.

The Leavenworth County Artists Association will have its annual Holiday Art Gala from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Center.
Several local communities also will be having tree lightings.
The city of Basehor will have its annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. today. The tree will be located between Citizens Savings & Loan, 15500 State Ave., and the Sutton Law Office, 1106 N. 155th St. The event is sponsored by the Basehor Chamber of Commerce.
Fort Leavenworth will have a tree lighting event from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Zais Park. The event also will commemorate the Army post’s 190th birthday.
The city of Lansing will have its Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lansing Community Center, 800 First Terrace.
