Numerous Christmas holiday-themed events are slated in the next several days in the local area.

The action gets under way Thursday when Leavenworth Main Street hosts the Alive After Five Winter Wine Walk in downtown Leavenworth. The event will take place from 5-8 p.m.

Numerous downtown merchants will participate in the event, which will feature many selections of wines and appetizers at participating businesses.

The event also serves as a chance to shop for Christmas presents in downtown Leavenworth.

The cost is $20 for first-time Alive After Five participants and $15 for returning participants.

The Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Holiday Open House from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.

Chamber members are invited to stop by and enjoy food and beverages at the Chamber office, 518 Shawnee St.

The Fort Leavenworth Post Theater, 375 Grant Ave., will feature the children’s play “A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. Thursday. The show is for all ages. The show is free and open to the public.

Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lansing Elementary School, 450 W. Mary St.

Crafts, games, live performances and a photo booth will be available, as well as a holiday store, raffles and a silent auction.

The event also will feature all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage.

Admission is $6 at the door, or $12 for admission and breakfast.

Saturday with Santa is slated from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Leavenworth Public Library, 417 Spruce St.

The free event, billed as “Adventure in the North Pole,” is for children 12-under. Children can meet Santa and get their photo taken with him. Several activities and games will be available to children.

Brown Bear Printing, 509 Cherokee St., will host Santa from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Photos with Santa will be taken for free.

The 312th Army Band Holiday Concert will feature holiday music at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lewis and Clark Center, 100 Stimson Ave., on Fort Leavenworth. The event is free and open to the public.

The University of Saint Mary Christmas Chorale Vespers concert will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Annunciation Chapel. There is no charge to attend the performance.
