No arrests have been made as a result of a fatal shooting that was reported early Christmas morning in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The investigation of the homicide of Shavar A. Walker is ongoing, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

“They are working pretty hard on it,” Nicodemus said of investigators. “There's a lot to do.”

Nicodemus said investigators have to interview people, process evidence and write reports.

Walker, 33, Kansas City, Missouri, was reportedly shot several times Dec. 25 outside of an apartment complex in the 500 block of Vilas Street following an altercation. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Nicodemus did not comment about possible suspects or a motive for the shooting.
