A man was taken to the hospital after a bullet grazed his forehead during an altercation over the weekend in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

A man was taken to the hospital after a bullet grazed his forehead during an altercation over the weekend in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 11:04 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Stoneleigh Court.

Police received a report of shots fired. Authorities were told there had been a disturbance involving several people and one person was chasing another.

Responding officers located the victim, a 23-year-old Leavenworth man, in the 1200 block of Michigan Street, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The man's wound was not considered serious, but he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“We're still trying to investigate, locate the other subjects involved,” Nicodemus said.

Police believe the victim was shot with a handgun. Nicodemus said he does not know how many shots were fired.
