The fire was reported at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday at 325 Pottawatomie St. No injuries were reported.

Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department, believes the fire started in the front of the two-story house in the area of the front porch. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which was reported by a passerby.

DeMaranville said firefighters were able to extinguish the flames fairly quickly. The Leavenworth Fire Department requested assistance from the Fort Leavenworth Fire Department.

The fire resulted in an estimated $20,000 worth of damage.

DeMaranville said there were contents inside the home, but firefighters have not yet had contact with the occupant.
