A man was arrested by Leavenworth police officers after he allegedly threw a knife at a woman, a police spokesman said.

A man was arrested by Leavenworth police officers after he allegedly threw a knife at a woman, a police spokesman said.

The knife missed the woman.

The incident was reported around 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Cheyenne Street.

The suspect, a 49-year-old man, reportedly returned to a home where he had been staying. The man and the victim reportedly argued.

The man allegedly grabbed a knife and damaged personal property. He then allegedly threw the knife, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.

The man was arrested for allegations of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property. The alleged crimes are considered by police to be acts of domestic violence.

Kitchens said the man also was arrested for a warrant for failure to appear that had been issued through Leavenworth County.
