A Leavenworth man reportedly was threatened with a homemade firework during an argument, according to a police spokesman.

The suspect also allegedly threw rocks at the windows of the victim's home, causing damage.

The incident was reported at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Vilas Street.

The argument between the victim and another man reportedly began inside but spilled outside of the victim's residence, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

Two windows were damaged when the suspect allegedly threw rocks.

The suspect is alleged to have threatened to cause injury to the victim by blowing up the firework. The victim reportedly was able to grab the firework and throw it out of the suspect's reach.

The homemade firework never exploded, according to Nicodemus.

“The suspect left before the officers arrived,” Nicodemus said.

A member of the local bomb squad retrieved the homemade firework.

Police have identified the suspect.

“We have not located him,” Nicodemus said.

The case has been forwarded to the Leavenworth County Attorney's Office for possible charges.
