Leavenworth County Emergency Management Director Chuck Magaha said a storm that passed through the area Tuesday morning left behind about one quarter inch of ice. He said a storm that passed through the area Wednesday night produced less than one tenth of an inch of ice.

Classes were canceled Thursday at schools across the county because of the weather. The University of Saint Mary had a delayed opening Thursday at its Leavenworth campus.

Weather conditions may be warming up in the coming days in Leavenworth.

The high temperature on Saturday in Leavenworth will be near 47 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance of freezing rain early Saturday morning, and rain will be likely later in the day. There is a chance of rain and snow in the forecast for Saturday night.

The forecast for Sunday calls for sunny conditions in Leavenworth with a high near 48 degrees.
