Revelers celebrated all things kelly green Monday night at the 38th annual Irish Stew Dinner at the Riverfront Community Center.
In the run-up to St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, the Leavenworth Rotary hosted its annual fundraising event that featured food, music, dancing, a silent auction and, of course, green beer.
The Irish Stew Dinner is the Leavenworth Rotary’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds from the event go to the Leavenworth Rotary Foundation in support of local youth programs.
“This event covers a lot of programs for our students,” said Tamara Sevcik, president of the Leavenworth Rotary.
She said the organization makes approximately $4,500 each year at the event.
Organizers estimated that the annual event would attract more than 500 people.
Sevcik said every member of the Leavenworth Rotary worked as a volunteer in some capacity at the event.
Rotary member Bill Kromer was a volunteer at the green beer stand.
“Everyone loves the green beer,” Sevcik said.
The Irish Stew Dinner is held each year on the Monday prior to St. Patrick’s Day.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade is slated to begin at noon Saturday in downtown Leavenworth.
