A man was arrested in Leavenworth after he allegedly used the threat of a gun in an attempt to rob another man of his jacket, a police spokesman said.

A man was arrested in Leavenworth after he allegedly used the threat of a gun in an attempt to rob another man of his jacket, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Olive Street.

A man reported to police that he had been working on a vehicle when he was approached by the suspect.

The suspect, a 21-year-old man, reportedly inquired about the jacket worn by the victim. The suspect asked if the victim would sell the jacket.

“The victim did not want to sell it,” said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The suspect allegedly drew a handgun and threatened to take the jacket.

“The victim left and called police,” Nicodemus said.

Officers located the suspect. He reportedly was found with a handgun in his possession.

The suspect was arrested for allegations of attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
