A wide assortment of local cuisine and beverages will be featured at the 16th annual A Taste of Leavenworth fundraising event.

The event will be held from 5-10 p.m. March 24 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 55, 300 S. 20th St.

Guests will have a chance to sample food and beverages from 13 local restaurants and vendors.

The event is a fundraiser for the First City Museum, the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum and the Fred Harvey Museum, three organizations that make up the Leavenworth Historical Museum Association.

The annual event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the LHMA.

Del Sanders, president of the museum association, said 100 percent of the net profits from the event go to the LHMA. He said the fundraiser nets about $20,000 each year. He said all proceeds go to operating costs at the three museums.

Guests are invited to participate in the People’s Choice award to honor the most popular vendor.

Food vendors at the event this year will be Merriwether’s Coffee Shop and Cafe, Papa Murphy’s, Grinders High Noon, The Depot, Tampico Authentic Mexican Restaurant, Family Bistro, Retro Diner, Denny’s, Pullman Place Family Restaurant, Metropolitan Steakhouse, Daylight Donuts, Pyur Eats and Mr. Goodcents.

Approximately one dozen other restaurants will provide food, desserts and beverages.

The event also will feature a silent auction that includes about 300 items. There will also be a live auction.

One of the auction items will be a VIP four-person dinner at Mama Mia’s with University of Kansas basketball player Clay Young. Other auction items include coins, art, furniture, jewelry and more.

“There’s a little something for everyone,” Sanders said.

There will also be live entertainment from the First City Strings Band.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door on the night of the event.
