Area residents looking for bargains on secondhand items may want to head to Lansing this week.

The city of Lansing once again will be hosting its spring Citywide Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday.

The Citywide Garage Sale will actually be multiple garage sales at individual residences in the city.

City officials are promoting the event and have put together a map of the locations of the homes of residents who have signed up for the event. Registration for the event has closed.

Tim Dossey, event and marketing coordinator for the city, said typically about 100 people sign up for the event.

Dossey said the community has a large transient population. And the Citywide Garage Sale is helpful for people who are wanting to get rid of items or for those looking for things they need.

He noted the spring Citywide Garage Sale takes place around the same time as Lansing's annual Clean Up event. The two-week Clean Up will begin April 14.

In conjunction with the Citywide Garage Sale, Lansing Lumber, 211 N. Main St., will be hosting a Builders Flea Market, Dossey said.

The Builders Flea Market will take place Friday and Saturday at the store, according to information posted on the business' Facebook page.

Dossey said city officials organize a Citywide Garage Sale twice a year. The next one will take place in the fall.

A map showing participating locations for this week's Citywide Garage Sale can be found on the city's website, www.lansing.ks.us

Copies of the map also will be available today at Lansing City Hall, 800 First Terrace.
