More than 7,000 books will be available to purchase at the annual Friends of the Lansing Community Library book sale.

The three-day event begins Friday at the Lansing Activity Center, 108 S. 2nd St.

The sale begins with a special preview from 5-8 p.m. Friday for members of the Friends of the Lansing Community Library. Memberships can be purchased at the door for $5.

The sale will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Sunday will be $5 sack day from noon to 5 p.m.

Most books in the sale are priced at 50 cents to $1. Credit cards will be accepted.

Terri Wojtalewicz, director of the Lansing Community Library, said the book sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the library.

She said the book sale typically results in approximately $3,000 in sales. Funds raised are for many library programs, including the summer reading program.

She said numerous genres of books will be available at the sale, including nonfiction, fiction, history, sports and books for children.

The books will be arranged by genre. Volunteers will be on hand to help people find books and take books to their vehicle.

Wojtalewicz said approximately 15 volunteers will be helping at the book sale each day.
