People in Leavenworth County care about the safety of children.
That was apparent Thursday morning at the 12th annual Leavenworth County Child Abuse Prevention Council fundraising breakfast at TenPenny Restaurant and Bar.
Jim Sherley, undersheriff of the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office, said attendance at this year’s breakfast was “one of our biggest.”
Sherley is the organizer of the annual LCCAPC breakfast.
He said approximately 300 people attended the event, which raised approximately $4,000.
The funds will be used for LCCAPC programs, training and grants throughout the year.
“It keeps growing every year,” Sherley said.
The breakfast, the LCCAPC’s only fundraiser of the year, was a “smash hit” said Sherley.
Several city and county officials and civic leaders worked as servers during the event.
Sherley praised the efforts of TenPenny owner Cindy Schulenberg and her staff.
“They always accommodate us and donate the food and their time,” Sherley said.
