A rural Linwood man accused of second-degree murder appeared in court Monday.

Monday marked the first time Dan S. Flannagan appeared with his court-appointed attorney, John Bryant. The court appearance initially had been scheduled for last week but was continued until Monday afternoon.

Flannagan is charged with intentional second-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Constance Perryman.

A family member reported that Perryman, 61, was missing the night of April 5. Deputies from the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office found Perryman's body the next morning south of Linwood on 198th Street. She lived at that location with Flannagan, according to Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

Flannagan was later arrested in connection to the death.

In court Monday, Bryant asked for additional time to review discovery evidence in the case.

The next court appearance is now scheduled for May 2.

Flannagan remains in custody at the Leavenworth County Jail.
