The Leavenworth and Lansing school districts will be having events later this week to show artwork by students.

The second annual Riverfront Student Art Show will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St. Admission is free.

The show will feature artwork from Leavenworth public schools students in kindergarten through the 12th grade.

The event is sponsored by the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation.

LPSEF Director Catey Edwards said the inaugural art show last year featured works by elementary and middle school students. But this year's show has been extended to also showcase works by Leavenworth High School students.

Following the show, some artwork will be displayed at the Leavenworth Public Library, according to a flier for the event.

The Lansing District Art Showcase will take place from 8-11 a.m. Saturday in the commons of Lansing High School, 1412 147th St. Admission is free.

The show will feature work of students from all levels of the Lansing school district.

The annual event, which is sponsored by the Lansing Educational Foundation, began in 2015, according to Nineveh Carvan, who is the director of LEF.

“It has great attendance,” she said.

She said the event also will feature a silent auction.

The Lansing Educational Foundation will use money generated through donations and the auction to provide grants to art classrooms in the Lansing district.

In conjunction with the Lansing District Art Showcase, the Lansing Kiwanis Club will have an annual pancake breakfast. This event will take place at the same time and location as the art show.

There will be a fee for the pancake breakfast. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12-younger.
