The Traveling Education Exhibit of the Wreaths Across America program will be stopping in Leavenworth this weekend.

The exhibit will be at the parking lot of the Leavenworth Wal-Mart store, 5000 10th Ave., from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Tours are free and open to the public.

The Wreaths Across America program is a responsible for the placement of Christmas wreaths at veterans' graves across the country each year in December. Locally, volunteers work to place the wreaths at graves at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and Leavenworth National Cemetery each year.

Amber Coran, director of communications for Wreaths Across America, said the Traveling Education Exhibit has interactive components to inform visitors about Wreaths Across America and people whose lives have been impacted by the program.

"Everything inside focuses around our mission which is to remember, honor and teach," she said.

She said the goal is to bridge a gap between the military and communities.

The exhibit will be making other stops in the Kansas City area.

The exhibit will be set up at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday and Saturday.

The exhibit also will be open for tours from noon-7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Bass Pro Shops store at 12051 Bass Pro Drive, in Olathe.
