The University of Saint Mary honored 378 graduates with diplomas during a commencement ceremony Saturday in McGilley Field House.
The group was composed of 183 undergraduate recipients, 156 master’s degree recipients and 39 doctoral recipients.
Student speakers included Bailey Hightower of Bonner Springs, Joshua Yoakum of Lansing and Allison Niederee of Great Bend, Kansas.
Masa Wantanabe, assistant professor of chemistry, was honored with the Sullivan Award for Teaching Excellence and University Leadership and Service. The award is given to a full-time faculty member nominated by students, faculty and staff as a person who has made a different in the teaching climate at the university.
Van Ibsen, theater program director, was honored as a professor emeritus in theater. He retired at the end of the spring semester.
