A driver was killed as a result of a head-on collision in western Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff's Office.

A driver was killed as a result of a head-on collision in western Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff's Office.

The crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday at Kansas 16 Highway and Parallel Road.

Daniel Crouse, 70, McLouth, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup south on K-16 toward Tonganoxie.

A 15-year-old rural Tonganoxie boy was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado north on K-16. He reportedly passed other vehicles and collided head-on with the southbound truck, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

Both vehicles ended up in a ditch on the west side of the highway. Crouse's truck came to rest on its driver's side.

Crouse was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sherley.

The other driver was transported to Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri, to be treated for leg injuries.

The investigation of the accident is said to be ongoing.
