Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that was reported at a Leavenworth convenience store, a police spokesman said.

Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that was reported at a Leavenworth convenience store, a police spokesman said.

The robbery was reported at 11:36 p.m. Saturday at Shrine Park and Eisenhower roads.

The suspect reportedly entered the store and walked behind the counter. The suspect pointed a handgun at the woman who was working at the store and demanded money.

The robber was given an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect also placed 18 cartons of cigarettes in a trash bag, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The suspect fled the store with the money and cigarettes.

Nicodemus said it is unclear if the robber was a man or a woman. The suspect was described as a black person who wore a red T-shirt over a shirt with long black sleeves, a red hat, black leather gloves, dark pants and black boots. The robber, who had curly hair, also wore a red handkerchief over his or her face.

No injuries were reported.
