Multiple events are scheduled this holiday weekend in honor of Memorial Day.

On Saturday morning, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other volunteers will be placing American flags at more than 50,000 graves at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and Leavenworth National Cemetery, according to a news release from the Leavenworth Memorial Day Committee.

The committee organizes an annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the 35th Infantry Division Band will perform a free concert featuring patriotic music. The concert will take place at Leavenworth High School, 2012 10th Ave. The concert is open to the public.

At 9 a.m. Monday, Catholic Cemeteries of Northeast Kansas will host a Memorial Day Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1011 N. Desoto Road in Lansing. If there is inclement weather, the Mass will be moved to St. Francis de Sales Church, 900 Ida St. in Lansing, according to a news release for the event.

Also at 9 a.m. Monday, the annual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will begin at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, according to a news release from the Leavenworth Memorial Day Committee.

At 11:30 a.m., an annual Memorial Day observance will take place at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, 395 Biddle Boulevard, according to information from Fort Leavenworth.
