A woman was arrested for arson after she allegedly set fire to her Leavenworth home, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported around 2:40 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 1800 block of Seneca Street. No injuries were reported.

Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said the woman was the only person at the residence at the time of the fire.

Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department, said firefighters believe the fire was incendiary, or started on purpose. He said no accidental sources could be found.

Nicodemus said mental health issues or impairment may have been a factor in the incident.

DeMaranville said the fire started in a bedroom. He said it did not take firefighters long to extinguish the flames.

The fire resulted in an estimated $4,000 worth of damage.
