Five people were arrested when authorities searched a residence in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

Police served a search warrant at 2:20 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Osage Street.

Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said officers were searching the residence for drugs.

Eight people were at the home when the search warrant was executed. Five of them were taken into custody for unrelated arrest warrants, Nicodemus said.

The deputy chief said officers found suspected narcotics during their search. The suspected drugs will be submitted for laboratory testing.
