Haymarket Square will be bustling with activity on Saturday.

The popular event venue in downtown Leavenworth will feature the Leavenworth City Market and Leavenworth Farmers Market Saturday morning, and a summer music series concert Saturday night.

The Leavenworth City Market is held on the second Saturday of the month from May through October.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.

Approximately 20 vendors will be selling antiques, collectibles and overstocked items. Other vendor booths will feature businesses advertising their goods and services.

“One man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” said Wendy Scheidt, executive director of Leavenworth Main Street, which operates the Leavenworth City Market. “There’s always a lot of interesting items for sale. You never know what you are going to find, and that’s part of the fun.”

Prices vary at the Leavenworth City Market, and sometimes they are open to negotiation with the vendor.

Scheidt said attendance at the Leavenworth City Market averages about 150 people each time the event is held.

“It’s just a fun, social event,” Scheidt said.

The Leavenworth Farmers Market will be open from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The market features a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers and other merchandise.

Leavenworth Main Street will host the first of three performances in the Free Summer Concert Series Saturday night.

RetroActive Lite! will perform from 7-10 p.m. on a stage at Haymarket Square. The band performs music from the 1980s.

Lansing City Limits 2018 gets the weekend started Friday night.

Harpist Wujeong Duncan and musician Erica McKenzie will perform at Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse beginning at 6 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public.
