Surrounding counties experienced strong winds and large hail. But a storm weakened Monday night as it reached Leavenworth County, according to a local emergency management official.

Chuck Magaha, director of Leavenworth County Emergency Management, said multiple weather advisories and warnings were issued for Leavenworth County on Monday, but it turned out to be an uneventful night for local residents.

“We got some needed rain, but we needed a lot more,” he said.

He said some areas of the county had between 0.75 of an inch and one inch of rain.

He said the county is about eight inches behind in rainfall when compared to the same time last year.
