Members of the public are invited to listen to local lawmakers discuss this year's state legislative session.

The Government Affairs Committee of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a wrap-up session for its 2018 Legislative Update series.

The forum will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St. The event is free to the public.

Most of the state legislators who represent portions of Leavenworth County have been invited to the event.

Brandon Johannes, president and CEO of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce, said only one of the legislators, state Sen. Tom Holland, has indicated he will be unable to attend because of a family commitment.

Johannes said legislators in attendance will be asked about what they worked on during the recent legislative session, which ended in May.

“We'll also ask them what they're working toward in the next session,” Johannes said.

Johannes said he believes the forum will then be opened to the floor for additional questions for legislators.

People who wish to submit questions in advance, can email Johannes at brandon@llchamber.com

The Government Affairs Committee of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce organized a similar forum in March during the middle of the legislation session.
