The trial of a woman facing a murder charge in Leavenworth continued Thursday for a fourth day.

The trial of a woman facing a murder charge in Leavenworth continued Thursday for a fourth day.

Attorneys have said the trial of Barbara M. Frantz could last through next week.

Frantz, 52, Kansas City, Kansas, is charged in Leavenworth County District Court with first-degree murder.

She is accused of shooting her estranged husband, Gary, Jan. 27, 2017, in a parking lot outside of the Stove Factory Lofts in downtown Leavenworth.

The trial began Monday with jury selection.

Witnesses who testified Thursday included Patrick Frantz, son of the defendant.

Defense attorneys in the case are arguing that Patrick Frantz is responsible for the shooting.

While testifying, Patrick Frantz said his mother “is the only one who would have done this.”

Patrick Frantz testified that he was at work on the night of the shooting.

While his relationship with his father may not have been good, Patrick Frantz said, “I didn’t hate him enough to kill him.”

Barbara Frantz remains in custody at the Leavenworth County Jail during her trial.
