More counterfeit bills have turned up at Leavenworth businesses, a police spokesman said.

On July 11, a customer brought a counterfeit $20 bill into Armed Forces Bank, 2901 S. Fourth St. The customer apparently had not realized the bill was fake. But bank staff recognized that the bill was counterfeit, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

On Tuesday, someone reportedly tried to pass a counterfeit $50 bill at the drive-through window of Taco Bell, 2925 S. Fourth St. An employee realized the bill was fake and informed the customer the money was not real. The customer reportedly drove away.

"The clerk kept the bill," Nicodemus said.

Similar cases of counterfeit money were reported in the city last month.
