The 92nd annual Leavenworth County Fair will officially begin Tuesday in Tonganoxie.

The 92nd annual Leavenworth County Fair will officially begin Tuesday in Tonganoxie.

Mike Johnson, president of the Leavenworth County Fair Association, said the five-day fair will offer a little bit of everything. The theme for this year's fair is "Fun for the Whole Herd."

"I think we have 3,000 exhibitors," Johnson said.

Visitors may have to pay a $4 parking fee to park at the fairgrounds. But there is no general admission fee for the fair. Some of the individual activities, such as the carnival rides, will require fees.

The opening ceremony for the fair will take place at noon Tuesday.

Other activities scheduled for Tuesday include a parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

A draft horse pull will begin at 8 p.m. Admission for this event is free, but donations of non-perishable food will be accepted.

Activities on Wednesday will include a youth rodeo at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. Admission will be free for children who are 5 and younger.

Thursday's activities will include a mutton busting challenge at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Children who are 5 and younger will have free admission.

A semi-pro rodeo will follow. It will begin no earlier than 8 p.m. Admission is $13 for adults and $7 for children who are between the age of 6 and 12. Children who are 5 and younger will have free admission.

Friday's events will include a pie baking contest. Judging will take place at 1 p.m.

There will be a livestock auction at 7 p.m.

The Scott Peery Band will perform from 8-11 p.m. Admission is $5. Children who are 5 and younger will have free admission.

Friday also will be Senior Day at the fair. The Senior Day event will take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. People who are over the age of 50 are invited to attend. The event will include bingo and a free lunch.

Saturday's activities will include an open horse show at 9 a.m., turtle races at 1 p.m. and a children's tractor pull at 3 p.m.

There will be a mud run at noon. Admission for this event is $10 for adults and $5 for children between the age of 6 and 12. Children who are 5 and younger will have free admission.

A bull riding and mutton busting championship event will take place at 8 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children who are between the age of 6 and 12. Admission will be free for children who are 5 and younger.

Carnival rides will be available each night of the parade. Fairgoers can purchase arm bands, which will give them a night of unlimited rides. The arm bands are $25.

The Leavenworth County fairgrounds are located at 405 W. Fourth St., which is on Kansas 16 Highway in Tonganoxie.
