Approximately 1,500 people visited downtown this summer to listen to live music, eat tasty food and visit with old friends and new.

Mission accomplished for the Free Summer Concert Series, an annual production of Leavenworth Main Street.

“It was an awesome summer concert series,” said Wendy Scheidt, executive director of Leavenworth Main Street. “Mother Nature was good to us, the bands were great, the food was great and the crowds were awesome.”

The three-concert series concluded Saturday night at Haymarket Square. The band Abbey Road, a cover band that plays songs from the Beatles, was the featured performers.

The concert series is held on the second Saturday in June, July and August.

RetroActive Lite! played in June and Dating Sarah played in July.

“We had the Beatles band, classic rock, 70s music, it was a nice array of music,” Scheidt said. “Everyone knew all of the songs. They were either dancing in front of the stage or dancing in their lawn chairs.”

Scheidt said work is already under way for next year’s season.

Scheidt said Leavenworth Main Street likes to book an assortment of bands to appeal to a wide range of audiences.

She said LMS is in the process of booking bands and food vendors for the 2019 concert series.
