An altercation between two Leavenworth men resulted in one being stabbed and the other shot, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 2:08 p.m. Saturday in an alley in the 1000 block of Miami Street.

The Leavenworth Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man who had several gunshot wounds, said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The man was taken to the hospital.

The Police Department later received a call regarding a 30-year-old man who was a patient at a hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. The man was being treated for a stab wound.

Nicodemus said it appears the two men had been involved in an altercation.

While the men’s wounds are serious, their injuries are not considered life-threatening, Nicodemus said.

“We’re still investigating,” Nicodemus said.

He said one of the things investigators are trying to determine is what caused the altercation.

No arrests have been made in the case.
