A Leavenworth man is being sought by authorities in connection to business burglaries in Leavenworth and Platte County, Missouri, according to law enforcement officials.

Last week, Erik Holland with the Platte County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office announced the Sheriff’s Office was looking for Reco G. Hupp, 23, Leavenworth, as a person of interest in connection to a burglary that was reported at 1:35 a.m. Thursday at the Wood Oil convenience store at 25615 92 Highway, Platte City, Missouri.

Among the items that were missing from the store following the burglary was a cash register, according to a news release from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Leavenworth Deputy Police Chief Dan Nicodemus confirmed the Leavenworth Police Department is looking for the same person in connection to a burglary that took place in Leavenworth.

“We’re looking for the same suspect,” Nicodemus said.

The Leavenworth burglary was reported at 4:29 a.m. Thursday at Fast Stop, 1031 Metropolitan Ave.

After an officer arrived on the scene, a man reportedly fled from the business, driving east, according to Nicodemus.

A deputy with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office later spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one that was driven from the scene of the Leavenworth burglary. The deputy pursued the vehicle, but the chase ultimately was called off, according to Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

A report from the Leavenworth Police Department indicates a cash register, a safe and tobacco products were taken from the Fast Stop store.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office describes Hupp as a black man who is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 253 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding Hupp’s whereabouts can call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
