A man who was wounded during a shooting Tuesday night in Leavenworth is expected to live, a police spokesman said.

Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said police were still investigating the shooting Wednesday afternoon. He said detectives were meeting with the victim.

The incident was reported at 8:46 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of 13th Terrace.

The Leavenworth Police Department initially received a report of shots fired at that location. Nicodemus said police received a second call indicating there was a shooting victim.

When police arrived, the victim, a 27-year-old Leavenworth man, already had been taken to Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital by a relative. The victim later was transported to another hospital in the Kansas City area.

Nicodemus said the shooting apparently took place outdoors.

Nicodemus said he did not have information regarding a suspect.
