A Missouri River flood warning for the Leavenworth area is no longer in effect. And while flooding is not expected, a forecast was predicting Wednesday that the river will start rising again.

A Missouri River flood warning for the Leavenworth area is no longer in effect. And while flooding is not expected, a forecast was predicting Wednesday that the river will start rising again.

The Missouri River rose to a depth of 19.59 feet Tuesday in the Leavenworth area. By 1 p.m. Wednesday, the river had dropped to a depth of 17.67 feet.

A National Weather Service forecast predicted the river will be on the rise again today, and it is expected to crest around 1 a.m. Friday at 19.7 feet.

The river reaches its minor flood stage for the Leavenworth area at a depth of 20 feet.

Flood warnings for the Missouri River were in effect Wednesday for locations north of Leavenworth including Atchison and St. Joseph, Missouri.
