Two people were injured in a crash in central Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

Two people were injured in a crash in central Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at 9:39 a.m. Monday at Dempsey Road and 163rd Street.

A 52-year-old Valley Falls man was driving east in a Toyota Corolla. He attempted to turn north onto 163rd Street and was struck by a Ford Expedition that had been traveling behind the Toyota, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

The driver of the Toyota suffered a head injury and was transported to Providence Medical Center by Leavenworth County EMS. His passenger, a 58-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and also was taken to the hospital.

The other driver, a 57-year-old Basehor man, was not injured.
