Authorities are investigating recent burglaries at three businesses in south Leavenworth they believe are related, a police spokesman said.

All three burglaries occurred Monday night. No arrests have been made.

Police were notified of the first burglary after an alarm was triggered at 10:07 p.m. at Payless ShoeSource, 4824 S. Fourth St.

Someone broke the glass of a front door to the business. Money was removed from a register, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

While officers were still at the scene, they were notified that an alarm had sounded at Morefield’s Supersaver, 4601 Commercial Place.

A glass window also had been broken at this location.

“It’s unknown if anything was taken,” Nicodemus said.

A cleaning crew later discovered that Studdard Moving and Storage, 201 Commercial St., also had been burglarized.

A glass door at this business was broken, but it does not appear anything was taken.
