A Leavenworth woman was taken to the hospital after she reportedly was struck in the head with a blunt object during a domestic dispute, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 6:13 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of North 13th Terrace.

While responding to a report of a domestic disturbance, police officers met with the victim, a 46-year-old woman, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The woman had what Nicodemus characterized as a serious head injury as well as an injury to one of her arms.

The suspect, a 62-year-old man, allegedly had struck the victim with a blunt object. Nicodemus would not comment on what type of blunt object allegedly was used.

The suspect was arrested for an allegation of aggravated battery.

The woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, Nicodemus said.

The deputy chief said the victim and suspect had been living together.
