Firefighters responded to a Leavenworth apartment Saturday morning after smoke started coming from an electrical outlet, a Fire Department official said.
The incident was reported at 11:50 a.m. Saturday at an apartment at 1345 Stoneleigh Court.
“Something was shorting out it sounds like,” Leavenworth Assistant Fire Chief Mark Nietzke said.
He said it appears there only was smoke and no fire. But firefighters removed some of the wall around the outlet to check.
Maintenance and Westar Energy personnel were at the scene. Power was turned off, and the occupants temporarily were going to stay in another apartment, Nietzke said.
